Travel Changes & Government Updates

The Chambers Group Insurance Plan is one of the only insurance companies that has not made any changes to their travel policy since the start of the pandemic. Your coverage is still in place, even with the “Avoid Non-Essential Travel” advisory from the Canadian government. Coverage will not change until a level 4 travel ban “No International Travel.” If you have any questions about the Canadian travel advisory, or cruising status, please contact our office at [email protected].

COVID Related Coverage

The Chambers Plan covers COVID 19 related illnesses. If you or your dependents are hospitalized or need medical assistance due to COVID, you are covered. The only exception, is any quarantine expense, or quarantining related expense such as testing – will NOT be covered. If you test positive for COVID while travelling and are forced to quarantine, you will be required to cover any flight changes, hotel/accommodations and meals out of pocket.  Again, these will NOT be covered under the Chambers Plan Travel Policy. However Manulife Financial, currently offers a product for this, which provides up to $200 a day for a single individuals, and $400 per day for a family unit or couple, towards quarantine related expenses. If this is something that interests you, you can find the policy details on our Travel Page, or reach out to Pearse at our office for more information.

Trip Lengths & Maximums

All group travel insurance has a maximum trip length through your plan. All travel plans also have a maximum on coverage either on a per trip or lifetime amount. Chambers Plan voyage travel assistance coverage has a maximum trip duration; however, Chambers Plan is unique in the they have no lifetime or overall travel coverage maximum.  A trip is any departure from your home province, and ends the date you return back to Canada. If you are travelling abroad longer than your coverage allows, please reach out to [email protected] and we would be happy to explore your options for additional coverage solutions.

The Chambers offers the following trip maximums:

180 days per trip for those 64 and under with no lifetime or overall maximum on coverage.
